Ingest & Normalize
Source adapters convert heterogeneous feeds into a canonical observation schema — preserving provenance, timestamp, coordinate frame, and quality.
NexusFusion UrbanSense · Dual-Use AI Platform
UrbanSense is a sensor-agnostic AI middleware platform that repurposes existing urban infrastructure to deliver scalable, real-time situational awareness and anomaly detection — without installing new hardware.
One Platform. Many Sources. Actionable Insight.
Cities already possess valuable sensing infrastructure — cameras, acoustic sensors, RF receivers, traffic and transit feeds, environmental stations, and more. These feeds are fragmented by vendor, department, format, and purpose.
UrbanSense converts those disconnected feeds into one coherent, privacy-preserving operating picture. It is not a replacement sensor network — it is the intelligence layer that makes the infrastructure you already own produce coherent, actionable output.

Platform overview — sensor ingestion through explainable alert
UrbanSense Processing Pipeline
Source adapters convert heterogeneous feeds into a canonical observation schema — preserving provenance, timestamp, coordinate frame, and quality.
Prohibited data is removed or generalized before any publication or storage. Privacy enforcement precedes downstream processing.
Observations are routed to tracked-entity or contextual-telemetry handling — separating discrete objects from ambient conditions.
Evidence is associated across sensors, time, and geography. Confidence, uncertainty, and source health are propagated through every step.
Eligibility rules determine whether correlated evidence meets the threshold for a reportable incident — distinct from raw detection.
Confirmed incidents move through provisional, active, monitoring, and resolved states with full audit trail.
Incidents and evidence are stored for replay, reporting, and forensics. Alerts are issued through REST, WebSocket, and operator UI.
Machine-readable outputs include contributing sources, confidence, rationale, and full provenance — enabling external system integration.
Primary Use Cases
Correlate RF, acoustic, camera, and radar observations across city blocks to detect, track, and assess small UAS without dedicated defence sensors.
Fuse transit feeds, traffic sensors, and environmental data to detect blockages, unusual patterns, and mobility-affecting incidents in real time.
Continuous monitoring of perimeters, airspace, and environmental conditions around energy, utility, communications, and port sites.
Privacy-preserving aggregate crowd analysis — density, flow anomalies, and clustering — without facial recognition or individual tracking.
Integrate environmental, weather, vibration, and infrastructure sensors to detect early warning indicators of hazardous conditions.
Source-health monitoring detects degraded, spoofed, or failed feeds. The system continues operating and explicitly reports reduced confidence.
Privacy & Compliance by Design
Privacy enforcement is not a post-processing step — it is the second stage of the pipeline. Prohibited data is removed or generalized before any observation is published, stored, or shared. UrbanSense is designed to operate within Privacy Act, Charter, and GBA Plus requirements.

Edge Deployable
Flexible Deployment
UrbanSense supports both portable edge profiles and central-node deployment. The edge profile runs on ruggedized compute with local storage, offline operation, and no cloud dependency — critical for forward-deployed and bandwidth-constrained environments.
Both profiles share the same pipeline, API, and explainability layer. A central node can aggregate multiple edge deployments into a unified operating picture.
Relevance to Defence & Public Safety
Exploit locally available RF, acoustic, and camera infrastructure to detect and assess small UAS operating in complex urban environments where dedicated defence radar is impractical.
Rapid urban awareness for major-event security, critical-infrastructure protection, and emergency response operations — deployable without pre-positioned defence sensors.
Machine-readable outputs enable integration with ATAK, SAPIENT, CoT, and external command-and-control systems. Open architecture supports coalition interoperability.
